Social and environmental aspects of WEEE go hand in hand, says expert

The head of a waste policy working group has called on EU member states to encourage the introduction of social aspects into environmental policy and particularly reuse activities.rnRe-use is not only financially attractive and better for the environment, but also a useful social tool and as such should be encouraged, according to Filip Lenders of the RREUSE network. Speaking at the 3rd annual Agra Informa conference on the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive on 19 September, Mr Lenders said that supporting reuse activities avoided or delayed products and components becoming waste, reduced their overall ecological impact and conserved valuable natural resources.
