Some 800 nano products on the global market are now listed on the Woodrow Wilson International Centre web site and there are more than 2000 nanomaterials on the market, Sophie Delaporte, deputy director general of the French Ministry of Health highlighted. Ms Delaporte, speaking for the French Presidency, spoke of citizens' concerns and mentioned asbestos, the fibre which has killed hundreds of thousands of people. She called for a "check on safety" to "avoid threats with "preventative measures through a coherent approach."
