Commission studying sustainability among retailers

Europe's retailers are having their sustainability probed through a study that consultants BIOS are due to hand over to the European Commission before the end of the year. The consultants are checking company websites and corporate social responsibility reports as well as interviewing retailers directly for the study. In particular, BIOS is studying how different retailers across Europe are doing when it comes to greening products and displaying information to consumers. "We hope to get a good picture of how green are European retailers," an official from the Commission's environment directorate general DG Environment told EE & PL.
