The UK will meet its recovery and general recycling targets for 2008 with some ease, but there is tension to whether the aluminium and glass material specific targets will be met, according to Angus Macpherson, managing director of t2e, the UK trading floor that covers about two thirds of the packaging recovery note (PRN) and packaging recovery note for export (PERN) market. "The former is partially attributable to the challenges that the aluminium sector has had in acquiring for their exports proof of 'broadly equivalent' standards," Mr Macpherson told EE & PL. "While if history is anything to go by, the glass sector should meet its target. Nevertheless there is many a slip twix' cup and lip!"
