Member states vote on exemptions in Annexes IV and V of REACH

Carbon and graphite and a list of chemicals have been exempted from a general substance requirement in annexes IV and V of the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation, and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) Regulation. This was one result of this week's vote on the proposal in a European Commission regulatory (comitology) committee. The exemptions came after EU chemicals regulators approved the first changes to REACH since pre-registration began.
