Italy answers Commission on Naples waste crisis

The Italian government has sent a reply to the Commission's reasoned opinion of a month ago on the Naples waste crisis, the EU environment spokesperson has told EE & PL. The Commission is now reviewing that letter to consider what further steps it can take to get the city of Naples to clean up its act, Barbara Helfferich said. Mrs Helfferich would not elaborate more on the issue, stating only that the letter had arrived before the required deadline of 3 March, and that the Commission was now looking into it.
