Tax instruments should be used to promote good environmental behaviour, says MEP

The Commission's proposal to reduce the distortion of competition in the haulage market and damage to the environment through full tax harmonisation is good, but green measures should be given priority. This was the message of Swedish Liberal MEP Olle Schmidt as he presented his report on fuel taxation, ahead of a vote in the economics and monetary affairs Committee of the European Parliament last week.
