Commission study to show lack of enforcement on essential requirements of packaging

Member states are not doing enough to implement the essential requirements of packaging (e.g. prevention of packaging waste generation, heavy metals limits, making the packaging fit the purpose). That is the message of a new study on essential requirements, expected to be published before the end of the year.rnThe European Commission is putting the final touches to this study, Diana Onancea, DG Environment's new packaging head (see next article), told EE&PL this week. "It will say that countries are not doing enough to enforce essential requirements.
