More renewables, less emissions, say MEPs

The EU should reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by at least 80 per cent and increase its share of renewables to 60 per cent by 2050, said MEPs voting this week in Strasbourg on a report by French Liberal Anne Laperrouze.rnThe report, which was adopted by a large majority with 406 votes in favour, is a non-legislative resolution on the European Commission's "Second Strategic Energy review" which will be discussed by EU governments at the Spring European Council in March.
