Commission stresses to Council non-necessity of biowaste law

The European Commission made clear to the 11 June Environment Council that the EU does not need a stand-alone biowaste law.In a paper on last month's Communication on biowaste (see EE&PL, May 26, 2010, p12-14) presented under "Any other Business" at the Environment Council, the Commission argued that,"there are no policy gaps at the EU level that could prevent member states from improving their bio-waste management."
