MEP calls for Commission to better target green taxes

The European Commission should make more effort to encourage member states to ring fence the revenue from green taxes so that this money is "actually put to environmental uses". That was the underlying message of the question of French Liberal MEP Marielle de Sarnez to outgoing Tax Commissioner Laszlo Kovacs.rnKovacs however made clear in his answer last week that it was up to the member state concerned how to spend the money generated by green taxes.
