摘要

Several member states are concerned the proposed revamp to the EU's prior informed consent (PIC) rules for import and particularly export of dangerous chemicals could be inconsistent with the bloc's Customs Code, it was revealed at this week's Environment Council. In a progress report to the 19 December Council, the Polish presidency noted that some national experts had warned that there was a potential inconsistency with the Customs Code "and this might result in lack of transparency of Customs obligations related to chemicals covered by the Regulation." The progress report went on to say that the issue would need to be examined further.
