EU alone cannot foot world climate bill, says presidency

The Polish presidency has explained its recent veto of the proposed increase in emissions reduction targets by saying Europe cannot be the only one "footing the bill" for climate protection policy. Speaking in front of the European Parliament's Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety on 13 July, Polish Environment Minister Andrzej Kraszewski said there were too many countries "taking all for themselves without cleaning up afterwards" and this was a threat to a competitive Europe.
