BSI adopts EU's first plastic bag biodegradability norm

The British Standards Institution (BSI) published last month the BS8472 for plastic litter - the first Standard in Europe for biodegradability of plastic bags in the environment. The result of more than five years work by BSI, the standard comes as "a major breakthrough" for oxo-biodegradable plastics in the ELJ and around the world, BSI said in a statement.
