Lithuania last week received a reasoned opinion -the second and final warning in the EU legal system - to comply with EU legislation on strategic environmental impact assessments (SEAs) or face a possible referral to the European Court of Justice. The European Commission said that Lithuania's existing legislation on SEAs contains a number of shortcomings and that it does not implement the SEA Directive (2001/42/EC) correctly.
