Industry greets WEEE vote with mixed response; environmental groups pleased

"Some progress, but an opportunity missed." That was the message of the household appliance manufacturing industry in Europe (CECED) - and in fact one mirrored, for different reasons, by industry groups Orgalime (European engineering association) and D1GITALEUROPE following the European Parliament's first reading vote on the recast waste from electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) Directive earlier this month (see EE&PL. February 9, 2011, p 1 -4).
