Commission energy chief slams industry resistance to renewables

The energy industry should embrace renewable energy, not resist it, a key European Commission energy official said last week. DG Energy's Deputy Head of Renewable Energy, Tom Howes, slammed the energy sector for being "stubbornly resistant" to all forms of renewable energy at a 17 October meeting in Brussels. Howes said it was very disappointing that a large part of the energy industry still sees renewable energy as "too expensive and problematic".
