EU compromise in sight on biofuels 'ILUC' debate

The European Commission's Energy and Climate Change directorates general are close to reaching a compromise deal on the legislative steps needed to ensure that biofuels used in the EU contribute to carbon savings, our sister publication Agra Europe understands. A high-level meeting of all 27 Commissioners last week sought a consensus on whether or not or how to factor in "indirect land use change" (ILUC) when accounting for emissions from the production of biofuels.
