BASF Plant Science plans to resume field trials of genetically engineered (GE) potatoes undergoing the approval process in the European Union, our sister publication Agrow reports.The company will conduct trials in Germany, Sweden and the Netherlands of its GE amylopectin potato variety, Modena, and its late blight (Phytophthora infestans)-resistant potato variety, Fortuna. The trials will be conducted in the state of Sachsen-Anhalt in Germany, the provinces of Skane and Halland in Sweden, and the provinces of Gelderland, Drenthe and Noord-Brabant in the Netherlands. The potato varieties will be planted on less than one hectare overall.
