MEPs to quiz Commission over REACH and SVHCs

The European Commission is on 1 March facing yet another grilling over the REACH chemicals regulation and the small number of chemicals on the candidate list of substances of very high concern (SVHC). During an implementation session at the European Parliament's Environment, Public Health and Food Safety Committee, Green MEPs Carl Schlyter of Sweden and Satu Hassi of Finland point to the March 2010 pledge from Industry and Environment Commissioners Antonio Tajani and Janez Potocnik to accelerate the speed at which substances are added to the candidate list.
