Poland: Tusk sacks Korolec over shale gas

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk fired the country's environment minister Marcin Korolec on 20 November, in the middle of the international climate negotiations his country was chairing (see story above). The news was greeted with dismay by EU policymakers and conference delegates. Officially, Korolec was dismissed over the "radical acceleration of shale gas operations" as Tusk explained in a 20 November statement reported in the Guardian, saying that Korolec would remain in charge of the climate negotiations. However, some say Korolec was sacked in a bid to stall the summit.
