WWF: Palm oil buyers must boost sustainable production

There are no more excuses, palm oil buyers must do more to stimulate sustainable production, environmental group Worldwide Fund for Nature (WWF) told an industry conference in Medan, Indonesia last week. Publishing its 'WWF Scorecard' on 12 November (see last week's issue for details), WWF said the results show that palm oil buyers "are doing more than before but not nearly enough to encourage responsible growers to reduce the adverse impacts of producing the world's most popular vegetable oil in some of the most vulnerable tropical habitats around the world."
