MEP calls for more action and consumer awareness on waste

EU waste regulation has proved to be useful and the 2008 Waste Framework Directive is starting to bear its first fruits, but a lot of progress still needs to be achieved, according to French centre-right MEP Gaston Franco in a 14 November 'opinion' piece in The Parliament magazine. Franco, rapporteur (draftsman) for the recently adopted 7th Environmental Action Programme (7EAP), insisted on the need to "increase awareness of the various stakeholders involved in the waste and resources chain".
