Lithuania extends deposit scheme from 2015

Lithuania, in a bid to boost its "unsatisfactory" recycling level, is planning to extend its existing reusable glass deposit scheme to plastic and metal packaging, as well as to putting deposits on single use glass bottles. In a press release last month, the Lithuanian Environment Ministry said that from 2015 "all major retailers in Lithuania will have to take back glass as well as metal and plastic packaging such as PET bottles and cans."
