Parliament backs plans to stop reckless ship scrapping

Beaching ships to scrap them jeopardises workers' health, safety and the environment, MEPs said last week, in backing plans agreed with the Council to end the scrapping of old European-registered ships on third country beaches and to ensure that they are recycled in EU-approved facilities.
