EFSA dismisses GM maize bans

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has concluded that Italy and Luxembourg have not provided sufficient scientific evidence to support bans on the cultivation of Monsanto's genetically modified (GM) insect-resistant MON810 maize. EFSA was asked by the European Commission in May this year to assess the applications related to MON810 submitted by Luxembourg and Italy last year.
