Industry divided over European waste targets

As the EU consultation on amending existing European waste management targets closed on 10 September, two of the UK's main industry players have responded to the European Commission's proposal. Their position, however, is at odds with each other.The Resource Association (RA), which represents the UK reprocessing sector, said the EU needed to be "more ambitious" in setting new targets for recycling and landfill diversion and needed to put forward a more harmonised and consistent data recording approach across member states.
