Swedish Christian Democrat MEP Christofer Fjellner is calling on fellow members of the European Parliament's Environment, Public Health and Food Safety Committee to veto a draft Commission regulation setting ecodesign requirements for water heaters and hot water storage tanks. In a resolution that Fjellner has drawn up to veto the draft regulation, the MEP argues that the measure is not in line with the 2009 framework directive on the setting of ecodesign requirements for energy-related products (2009/125/EC). He says that the main aim of the 2009 directive is to increase the energy efficiency of products, but without significant loss of performance or usefulness for consumers.
