A cross-party group of MEPs have written to three European commissioners to stress that the EU knows enough about endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) to regulate them based on the precautionary principle. Only MEPs from the European Conservatives and Reformists group did not put their names to the letter signed on behalf of their groups by Christa Klass, a German from the European People's Party, Swedish Socialist Asa Westlund, French Liberal Corinne Lepage, France's Michele Rivasi and Sweden's Carl Schlyter for the Greens, Portuguese left-winger Alda Sousa and Italian Oreste Rossi from the Europe for Freedom and Democracy group.
