New report says ETS price slump 'dramatic and enduring'

One month after global newswire Bloomberg revealed that the market value for the European Union Emissions Trading Scheme (EU ETS) and United Nations Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) allowances contracted by more than a third to €61 billion in 2012, a new report by Thomson Reuters Point Carbon announced that carbon prices are "dramatic" and "enduring." The report, released on 7 February, warns that, "we are now facing the prospect of the carbon prices in Europe inching ever closer to zero."
