UK retailers withdraw products amid bee death link

UK home improvement firms Wickes, Homebase and B&Q have pledged to remove all products to have undergone neonicotinoid seed treatment from their shelves after the nerve agent was linked to declining bee populations. Wickes said it was withdrawing one product which contains thiamethoxam, while B&Q and Homebase said they were removing a product containing imidacloprid - two of three neonicotinoids to have been identified by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) as posing a number of risks to bee health.
