A coalition or environmental groups Dec. 11 recommended a $160 billion public investment in 80 projects-ranging from creating energy-efficient buildings to rebuilding bridges, roads, and national park facilities-that it said would stimulate U.S. economic recovery by creating up to 3.6 million green jobs over the next two years.rnThe 16-member coalition, including Environment America, American Rivers, the Natural Resources Defense Council, and the National Wildlife Federation, said in a Capitol Hill briefing that it presented its proposal, Economic Recovery through Investments in our Environment, Energy System and Heritage, to the Obama transition team on the previous weekend.
