Hazardous Waste Violations by BP Products At Texas City Refinery Draw $650,000 Fine

BP Products North America has agreed to pay a fine of $650,000 for 10 hazardous waste violations at its refinery facilities in Texas City, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality announced June 26.rnThe commission had cited BP Products for unauthorized land disposal of hazardous wastes, recordkeeping violations, and other infractions. The administrative agreement requires BP to immediately cease receiving, processing, and/or disposing on land of unauthorized waste and to ensure that uniform hazardous waste manifests are correctly completed. State officials found the violations during routine records reviews between July and December 2007.
