摘要

Cleanup workers at the Hanford Nuclear Reserva-tion in Washington have discovered that high-level radioactive materials have migrated into the soil beneath a building slated to be demolished, the De-partment of Energy said in a report posted on the Han-ford website Nov. 17.rnThe department and its cleanup contractor, Washing-ton Closure, are now working to assess the contamina-tion, determine how far it has migrated, and develop a plan to remove the contamination. This may in turn re-quire changes in the plans and schedules for demolish-ing the structure known as the 324 Building, the depart-ment said.
