Sierra Club Targets Greenhouse Gases From Cement Plants in Lawsuit Against EPA

The Sierra Club filed a lawsuit Nov. 8 against the Environmental Protection Agency seeking restrictions on greenhouse gas emissions from Portland cement plants (Sierra Club v. EPA, D.C. Cir., No. 10-1376, 11/8/10).rnThe lawsuit, filed in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, challenges new source performance standards announced by EPA Aug. 9 for Portland cement manufacturing facilities. EPA issued the standards along with hazardous air pollutant emissions limits for the facilities (41 ER 1813, 8/13/10).
