EPA Plan Promotes Renewables Projects On Superfund Sites, Brownfields, Landfills

The Environmental Protection Agency released a draft plan Oct. 14 to promote development of renewable energy facilities on contaminated lands instead of green space, the next step in its RE-Powering America's Land initiative.rnLaunched in September 2008, the initiative aims to "decrease the amount of green space used for development, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and provide health and economic benefits to local communities, including job creation," EPA said (39 ER 2234, 11/7/08).
