The Environmental Protection Agency will allocate 30 metric tons of chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) for metered dose inhaler production in 2010, less than what manufacturers had requested, according to a final rule published in the Federal Register May 10 (75 Fed. Reg. 25,780).rnIn a separate rulemaking, EPA also will propose listing isobutane, propane, HCR-188C, and HCR-188C1 as acceptable substitutes for CFC-12 and hydrochlorofluo-rocarbon (HCFC)-22, which are commonly used as refrigerants.
