Grid-scale energy storage, energy-efficient building cooling systems, and new electric power technologies are the focus of a $100 million research funding opportunity offered by the Department of Energy, Secretary Steven Chu announced March 2.rnThe funding, which is being distributed by the department's Advanced Research Projects Agency for Energy, will be used for research projects that aim to incorporate more renewable energy into the nation's electricity grid, reduce greenhouse gas emissions from building air conditioners, and other developments, the department said.
