摘要

A tanker carrying high-sulfur Mexican crude oil to a Texas refinery collided Jan. 23 with a tugboat and two barges in the Sabine Neches Waterway near Port Arthur, Texas, spilling an estimated 462,000 gallons of oil into the waterway and threatening local wildlife, the Coast Guard said.rnThe Coast Guard Jan. 26 authorized the damaged tanker Eagle Otome to be towed to Beaumont, Texas. After the remaining oil on the 807-foot tanker was pumped from the vessel, the Coast Guard gave the green light for tugs to tow the AET-owned vessel with assistance from two pilot boats and a specialized fire-fighting vessel, Petty Officer Larry Chambers, spokesman for the U.S. Coast Guard, told BNA.
