Navy Signs Contract to Buy 450,000 Gallons Of Biofuel, Largest Purchase by Government

The Defense Logistics Agency signed a contract Dec. 5 to purchase 450,000 gallons of advanced biofuel for the U.S. Navy, the single largest purchase of biofuel ever by the government, the Obama administration announced. The biofuels will be mixed with petroleum-based jet fuel or marine diesel fuel and used in a demonstration of the Navy's Green Strike Group as part of the international Rim of the Pacific Exercise in the summer of 2012.
