Energy Department to Review Up to 13 Rules As Part of Effort to Cut Regulatory Burdens

The Energy Department will review as many as 13 rules, ranging from energy efficiency standards for hot water heaters to paperwork requirements for grants programs, as part of a final plan on reducing federal red tape. The Final Plan for Retrospective Analysis of Existing Rules, released Aug. 23, is DOE's response to Executive Order No. 13,563 requiring federal agencies to review regulations to determine which ones could be eliminated or revised to spur economic growth (42 ER 121, 1/21/11).
