Chevron Targets New York Comptroller For Involvement in Ecuadorian Pollution Case

Chevron Corp. filed a complaint Nov. 20 seeking a New York state ethics investigation of Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli for allegedly pushing for settlement of a $19 billion lawsuit against the company over pollution in Ecuador.Chevron's complaint with the New York State Joint Commission on Public Ethics alleges that DiNapoli, who is sole trustee of a state retirement fund that owns more than $800 million of Chevron stock, violated his ethical and fiduciary duties by using his public office to support the Ecuadorian plaintiffs in the case.
