摘要

Climate change is expected to have global security implications within the next decade, according to a new report by the National Research Council. Climate events will occur with increasing frequency and severity, which will lessen the ability of societies to cope and respond, according toClimate and Social Stress: Implications for Security Analysis, which was released Nov. 9. Climate "surprises" within the next decade may disrupt global food markets, supply chains for commodities, or public health systems, the report said. Some of these events may create or exacerbate conditions affecting U.S. national security, according to the report.
