EPA Adds 12 Sites to National Priorities List,Proposes Eight Other Locations for Inclusion

The Environmental Protection Agency has added 12 new sites to the superfund National Priorities list of most hazardous sites and is proposing to add eight more sites to the list, the agency said in a Sept. 14 statement. Since 1983, a total of 1,676 sites have been put on the list, EPA said. Of these, 360 have been cleaned up, and 1,316 sites remain on the list, including the latest additions, EPA said. There are 54 proposed sites, including the eight announced Sept. 14, awaiting final agency action.
