Administration to Add 1 Million Acres To USDA Conservation Reserve Program

The Obama administration announced a proposal March 2 to enroll 1 million acres in the Conservation Reserve Program to restore wetlands, grasslands, and habitat for wildlife, offering a bigger incentive payment to participants.To attract farmers and ranchers to enroll in the program, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said it will offer an incentive of about $150 per acre, up from $100 an acre under the current system.
