Obama Calls for Increased Development Of Renewable Energy, Shale Gas Deposits

"This country needs an all-out, all-of-the-above strategy that develops every available source of American energy," Obama said to applause. "A strategy that's cleaner, cheaper, and full of new jobs." In addition, Obama said the Department of Defense will purchase one gigawatt of renewable energy, one of the largest purchases in history. The president also laid out a goal to permit 10 giga-watts of utility-scale solar and wind projects on public land by the end of 2012.
