Wyden Calls on DOE to Update Analysis Of U.S. Consumer Impacts of LNG Exports

Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), chairman of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, said the Department of Energy needs to develop more accurate data on the full impact of liquefied natural gas exports on U.S. consumers. Wyden told Christopher A. Smith, the nominee for DOE assistant secretary for fossil energy, at a Nov. 14 confirmation hearing that DOE's economic study in 2012, which found minimal impact on natural gas prices from LNG exports, relied on outdated data and should be revisited.
