EPA Publishes Final Rule on Industrial Wipes

The Environmental Protection Agency published a final rule July 31 that will exclude disposable, solvent-contaminated industrial wipes from being regulated as a hazardous waste under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (78 Fed. Reg. 46,448). The final rule will take effect Jan. 31, 2014. EPA says the regulation could result in net savings of between $21.7 million and $27.8 million annually to businesses in numerous industrial sectors.
