Senate Panel Approves Farm Bill With Link For Crop Insurance, Conservation Compliance

The Senate Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry Committee approved a five-year farm bill May 14 that includes a provision to link federal crop insur-ance and compliance with basic conservation measures to protect highly erodible lands and sensitive wetlands. On a vote of 15-5, the committee adopted the Agricul-ture Reform, Food, and Jobs Act of 2013, which has not yet been introduced formally.
