Petroleum Groups Ask Supreme Court To Overturn EPA Waivers for E15 Gasoline

The American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers and two other industry groups have petitioned the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn Environmental Protection Agency waivers approving use of gasoline containing 15 percent ethanol (E15) in newer passenger vehicles (American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers v. EPA, U.S., No. 12-1229, 4/10/13). EPA's two waivers would force the petroleum industry to "incur substantial costs to produce and handle" both gasoline containing 10 percent ethanol (E10) and E15, the groups said April 12 in announcing their petition.
